APJ Abdul Kalam served as the 11th President of Indiafrom 2002 to 2007. APJ Abdul Kalam became the first Indian to fly a fighter plane. Kalam also directed the POKHRAN II explosions while serving as the CEO of DRDO from 1992 to 1999. Kalam created two main missiles-AGNI and PRITHVIwhich earned him the title of Missile Man of India. Serving as the project director of ISRO, Kalam launched SLV-III-the first satellite in India. He contributed to different sectors of science and technology in leading to the development of Indian missiles. Kalam played a leading role in the development of India’s missile and nuclear weapons programs as a scientist.
He was popularly known as the “Missile Man of India”.
APJ Abdul Kalam was one of the greatest Indian scientists to serve in ISRO and DRDO. Kalam died on July 27, 2015, due to a cardiac arrest at the Indian Institute of Management(IIM), Shillong while delivering a lecture on the course on Livable Planet earth.ĭr.
